This Geothermal Energy & Subsurface Systems session focuses on geothermal energy resources and broader subsurface engineering applications related to energy. Topics include exploration methods, reservoir characterization, drilling technologies, and enhanced geothermal systems (EGS). Contributions may address numerical modeling of heat and fluid flow, induced seismicity, and reservoir management strategies for sustainable production. The session also welcomes work on coupled systems such as geothermal–district heating, geothermal for industrial processes, and subsurface thermal energy storage. Studies on economic feasibility, environmental impacts, and integration with other subsurface uses (storage of CO2, hydrogen, or natural gas) are particularly encouraged.
