Biomass Conversion

Biomass Conversion

Biomass conversion involves transforming organic materials into useful energy forms such as heat, electricity, or fuels. Conversion processes include biochemical methods like fermentation and anaerobic digestion, as well as thermochemical methods such as combustion, gasification, and pyrolysis. Biomass feedstocks include agricultural residues, forestry waste, energy crops, and organic waste. Efficient biomass conversion reduces dependence on fossil fuels and supports renewable energy generation. Sustainability considerations such as feedstock sourcing, lifecycle emissions, and land use are critical. Biomass conversion plays a key role in circular economy models and renewable energy systems, particularly for heat and dispatchable power generation.
