Concentrated Solar Power

Concentrated Solar Power

Concentrated solar power (CSP) is a renewable energy technology that uses mirrors or lenses to concentrate sunlight onto a receiver to generate heat. This thermal energy is then used to produce electricity, typically through steam turbines or heat engines. CSP systems include parabolic troughs, solar towers, linear Fresnel reflectors, and dish systems. One of the key advantages of CSP is its ability to integrate thermal energy storage, allowing electricity generation even when sunlight is unavailable. CSP provides dispatchable renewable power, enhancing grid reliability and stability. It is particularly effective in regions with high direct solar radiation. Concentrated solar power plays an important role in large-scale renewable energy deployment and supports the transition toward low-carbon electricity systems.
