Electrocatalysis

Electrocatalysis

Electrocatalysis involves accelerating electrochemical reactions at electrode surfaces to improve efficiency and selectivity. It is fundamental to energy technologies such as water electrolysis, fuel cells, batteries, and carbon dioxide reduction systems. Electrocatalysts lower activation energy and reduce energy losses, enabling efficient conversion of electrical energy into chemical energy. Research focuses on developing cost-effective, durable, and high-performance catalysts using advanced materials and nanostructures. Electrocatalysis supports green hydrogen production, energy storage, and sustainable fuel synthesis. It is a key enabling technology for renewable energy integration and low-carbon energy systems.
