Floating Solar Power

Floating Solar Power

Floating solar power systems involve installing photovoltaic panels on water bodies such as reservoirs, lakes, and ponds. These systems reduce land-use constraints and benefit from cooling effects of water, which can improve panel efficiency. Floating solar also reduces water evaporation and can enhance overall energy yield. It is particularly suitable for regions with limited land availability and existing hydropower reservoirs, where hybrid systems can be developed. Engineering challenges include anchoring, corrosion resistance, and environmental impact assessment. Floating solar power supports large-scale renewable deployment, optimizes land resources, and contributes to sustainable energy generation while minimizing ecological disturbance.
