Flow Batteries

Flow Batteries

Flow batteries are rechargeable energy storage systems in which energy is stored in liquid electrolytes contained in external tanks. Power and energy capacity are independently scalable, making flow batteries suitable for long-duration and large-scale storage. These batteries offer long cycle life, deep discharge capability, and enhanced safety compared to conventional batteries. Flow batteries are commonly used in grid-scale energy storage, renewable integration, and load balancing applications. Their modular design allows flexible system sizing and easy maintenance. Challenges include lower energy density and higher initial costs. Ongoing technological advancements are improving efficiency and reducing system complexity. Flow batteries play a key role in supporting reliable and resilient energy storage solutions.
