High-Power Semiconductors

High-Power Semiconductors

High-power semiconductors are electronic devices designed to handle large voltages, currents, and power levels. They are fundamental components in power electronics used for energy conversion, motor drives, renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, and HVDC transmission. Common high-power semiconductor devices include power diodes, thyristors, IGBTs, and MOSFETs. Recent advances in wide-bandgap materials such as silicon carbide and gallium nitride have significantly improved efficiency, switching speed, and thermal performance. High-power semiconductors enable compact, efficient, and reliable power conversion systems. Their development is critical for electrification, grid modernization, and sustainable energy infrastructure.
