HVDC Transmission

HVDC Transmission

High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission is an efficient technology for long-distance and high-capacity power transfer. HVDC systems reduce transmission losses, improve voltage control, and enable interconnection of asynchronous power grids. They are widely used for offshore wind integration, cross-border power exchange, and bulk power transmission. HVDC transmission relies on power electronic converters to convert AC to DC and back. Advances in converter technology and insulation systems have expanded HVDC deployment worldwide. HVDC transmission enhances grid stability, supports renewable energy integration, and enables reliable long-distance electricity transport, making it a key component of modern power systems.
