Hydro Energy – Wave, Tidal and Hydro Power

Hydro Energy – Wave, Tidal and Hydro Power

Hydro energy includes conventional hydropower as well as marine energy sources such as wave and tidal power. Hydropower converts the energy of flowing or falling water into electricity and provides reliable, flexible, and low-carbon power. Wave energy captures surface wave motion, while tidal energy harnesses predictable tidal currents and range differences. These technologies offer high energy density and long system lifetimes. Environmental and site-specific challenges must be carefully managed. Together, hydro, wave, and tidal energy contribute to renewable energy diversification, grid stability, and long-term energy security, particularly for coastal and water-rich regions.
