Ocean Energy

Ocean Energy

Ocean energy refers to renewable energy derived from the ocean, including wave energy, tidal energy, ocean currents, and thermal gradients. It represents a vast and largely untapped energy resource with significant potential for coastal and island regions. Ocean energy systems generate electricity without direct greenhouse gas emissions and have high energy density. Despite strong potential, challenges such as high capital costs, technological maturity, and marine environmental impacts remain. Research and pilot projects are driving innovation and improving system performance. Ocean energy contributes to energy diversification and supports sustainable marine-based power generation.
