Photocatalysis

Photocatalysis

Photocatalysis uses light energy to drive chemical reactions, enabling direct conversion of solar energy into chemical fuels or environmental remediation processes. In energy applications, photocatalysis is used for water splitting, hydrogen production, and carbon dioxide reduction. Photocatalytic materials absorb light and generate reactive charge carriers that initiate chemical transformations. Research focuses on improving light absorption, charge separation, and catalyst stability. Photocatalysis supports solar fuel production and artificial photosynthesis concepts. It offers a promising pathway for sustainable energy conversion and carbon recycling using abundant solar resources.
